About Us & How we dive

Picture
The Barbados Divers Association is a social club that welcomes anyone with a love of diving, a respect for the island and its marine life. We promote safe, affordable and fun diving throughout the year.
Joining the Club is inexpensive and there is currently no membership fee.  Dive shops generally offer preferential rates for BADAssn-organised dives and members may also get discounted rates on locally purchased dive gear and dive courses.
We have no formal structure and operate as a social network but encourage members to get involved in activities to keep the Club working, such as scheduling dives, managing membership, updating our website, hosting social activities and helping in any way you can.
Our members take turns to organise dives with any of the dive operators across the island. We dive in buddy pairs rather than ‘follow the leader’. For some divers this can be intimidating at first but you will soon find this is a much more rewarding way to dive!
The club brings it own O2 kit on dives as an extra precaution and we have coolers, a folding table and a gas grille if anyone is inclined to have a few extra refreshments! There is some merchandise such as tee shirts and caps if you feel the need.
Formed in the spring of 1990 by members of the American Embassy and originally called Barbados American Divers Association (hence BADAssn). Over the years, the club's membership has become more diverse. In 2008 the name was changed to the Barbados Divers Association, but we’re still known as BADASS!
